Rail Transport

SET have vast experience in modelling and analyzing various rail transport systems. We have formed a fundamental part of a project team that investigated the capacity of a major freight rail artery in South Africa.

SET developed simulation models to model rail loading / offloading operations and rail traffic control. This enables the client to test the feasibility of major capital expenditure alternatives on system capacity. We can eliminated unbeneficial alternatives resulting in significant capital savings.
